“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12.3).
The two abiding characteristics of God’s wells of salvation in the present day are that they are available to all mankind and they are the only source of true joy. Everything else that we think brings joy is counterfeit and unsatisfying. It leaves us empty and yearning not just for more but for greater.
The Samaritan woman could have drawn from these wells in Jesus’ day (see John 4). If she had known the gift God had given in these wells through Christ, and who had said to her “Give Me a drink,” she would have asked Jesus, and He would have given her living water!
On the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.” But He spoke concerning the Holy Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (See John 7.37-39).
The wells of salvation are still open for all who will come and receive from them. They are satisfying because they bring eternal peace and life. Every good result in my life is traced back to Christ. Only He is able to cleanse me from guilt and sin. Only He is able to purify and renew my mind. You are able to draw from the wells of salvation too. Anyone is able. God will supply what you truly need. Be filled with the fullness of God by drinking from the wells of salvation!
Turn away from your sin of self-righteousness. Understand that Jesus alone shed His blood on the cross for you. He died for your sin. He is risen for your righteousness. He ascended to God’s right hand and is still offering water from the wells of salvation. Trust in His finished work – in what He did not what you do in life. None of us are good enough to make it to Heaven. This is why Jesus died for us. Trust in Him and His finished work. Trust in the resurrected Christ who offers you water from the wells of salvation!
