Lord, to Whom Will We Go?

“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45.22).

If I turn to Christ, I have the promise of salvation. After all, I am included in “all the ends of the earth”. This means that “all the ends of the earth” need salvation. None save themselves. Some are great sinners and others not as great. But all are sinners. All sin is forgiven when we turn to Christ.

Jesus is mighty to save because He is God. If He is not God, I cannot have eternal life. Jesus is the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1.1, 14). Only the Creator is able to promise eternal salvation. Only the Creator is able to deliver eternal salvation. Jesus is the Creator. If I turn to Christ, I shall be saved because He is God.

Why go to anyone or anything else for salvation and hope? There is no other avenue for me. There is no other name given under heaven by which I am saved – none other than the name of Jesus. As with Peter, “Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God” (John 6.68-69). Pursue righteousness on your own and you will not attain to the law of righteousness. Righteousness is sought by faith not by the works of the law. Don’t stumble on this point as Israel did (See Romans 9.31-32). Jesus beckons us, “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45.22).
