Just Hanging in There

“The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never becomes faint or weary; there is no limit to his understanding. He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless. Youths may become faint and weary, the young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar like eagles, they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40.28-31).

Wait is trust. It is dependence. It is to lean into the LORD in my weakness. I wait so that God may teach me to trust and acknowledge Him in my life. If there was no waiting, I would not think to give God the glory. It is human nature. So, I wait in humility and realize how vulnerable I truly am.

As I remain under the pressures of life with a steadfast reliance upon God, He comforts and strengthens me. This leads to inner peace and gratitude. Those who wait are renewed in strength. I will soar on wings like eagles; I will run and not become weary, I will walk and not faint.

God is not inattentive. He hasn’t cast me off. Jesus died for my sins. How shall God not also freely give me all things?! Today, I will commit my way to the LORD. I will trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

What should I be discouraged or afraid? The powers of earth and Hell will not prevail against me. I wait on God. “Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42.5). I will not be afraid. God is with me. I will not be dismayed, for He is my God. He will strengthen me, yes, He will help me. He will uphold me with His right hand (Isaiah 41.10).

“I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help. He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and they will trust in the LORD. How happy is anyone who has put his trust in the LORD” (Psalm 40.1-4a).
