“On that day it will be said, ‘Look, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he has saved us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him. Let’s rejoice and be glad in his salvation” (Isaiah 25.9).
Once the Millennial Age ends, the LORD will swallow up death forever and will wipe away tears from all faces (v. 8). When believers, specifically Israel in this context, are in the presence of God, they will rejoice in the One for whom they’ve waited. Right now, all believers are waiting for the return of Jesus Christ. We are waiting for His kingdom to come to earth when all kings will bow before Him and all nations will come in and out to serve Him.
I am waiting. I wait for mercy new every morning. I wait for the day when Christ will be the One and only object of my desire …with no conflict or distraction from this world.
I am waiting. I wait for the future promises to unfold. I wait for all who defy Christ to be put down forever. I wait for the end of the tyranny caused by the evil one. I wait for full and complete salvation and unspeakable glory.
May God give me an expectant heart as I wait. May my expectations and desires be boundless in the LORD. When sin comes into my daily life and obscures my expectation, may I remember that God has put my sin away as far as the east is from the west. He is my Father; I am His son.
May God give me joy even in the midst of my sorrow. May I always remember the salvation He gave me and the salvation that yet awaits me. If I wait with a joyful disposition, then Heaven has come down to earth in some small way.
