The Day of the Disgraced Sun

“On that day …The moon will be put to shame and the sun disgraced, because the LORD of Armies will reign as king on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and he will display his glory in the presence of his elders” (Isaiah 24.21, 23).

The LORD of Armies will reign as king and display His glory. He will be King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Today, the Lord Jesus populates His kingdom and we yearn for it to come. We long for His will to be done on earth even as it is done in Heaven. We long for the day when all world leaders will bow before Him and adore Him. We long for the day when the nations shall serve and glorify the true King. “The LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be ‘The LORD is one,’ and His name one” (Zechariah 14.9).

Our great King shall display His glory. He does so even now through believers, albeit dimly. But in that day, His glory will be universally recognized. Even the moon will be put to shame and the sun disgraced. “Your eyes will see the King in His beauty” (Isaiah 33.17). We are the spirits of just people, and we shall be made perfect (Hebrews 12.23). “Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face” (1 Corinthians 13.12). All is clear for the just ones who have gone before us. All will be clear for us when we see Jesus face to face.

Believer, seek first the kingdom of God today. On that day, we shall join the united voice of a great multitude. It will sound like the waves of the ocean and the thundering during mighty storms. This united voice will cry out, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns” (Revelation 19.6)!
